Based on a photo I took when it was quite dark, so that the cat doesn't have its commonly seen slitted eyes but fully open pupils. The photo was adjusted and turned into a pixel picture of only 150x210 pixels which were then painstakingly drawn with a 0.1mm technical pen on A3 homemade graph paper.

The picture took 35 hours to draw. The reason I know this is I also made a timelapse video of my drawing which will soon be available on YouTube.

I quite like the pixel art aesthetic, but though it is easy to create as a purely digital artwork, I much prefer the organic look of the hand-drawn version: at a distance you see the image almost as a high-contrast photo, closer you see the pixels that together create the optical illusion of depth, light and shade at the further distance; but as you get closer still, you see each pixel is hand drawn, no two exactly the same shape or size, the black pixels consisting of several visible lines running across them where the small pen...

Born in Norway in 1974, and discovering I knew how to paint in 1999, my work spans a wide variety of styles and media, all the way from traditional oils, pencil drawings and encaustics to digital paintings, 3D renderings and computer generated imagery, with styles ranging from the completely abstract to the sensually figurative.
