Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
"The Plant and the Moth" - 18 x 18" original painting.
A new series of environmental paintings "Sacred Earth", with the theme that we are all connected. This painting begins on the Hawaiian Islands with a story about "the cabbage-on-a- stick" (Brighamia insignis) and the Hawk Moth (Agrius convolvuli). The plant grows on rocky ledges with little soil and steep sea cliffs. As of today, the species is possibly extinct in the wild (the last single individual was recorded in the wild in 2014). This is because its only pollinator was a certain type of now-extinct Hawk Moth, which has made it all but impossible for B. insignis to reproduce on its own.
This is a very organic intuitive style of painting, built on many layers of paint, in order to symbolize the connections and partnerships on our planet that are endangered.
Technical and personal aspects of her work have merged to produce images of beauty, peacefulness and humor of daily life. Her works touch the heart of the viewer, leading them into a Journey of the Spirit. "I love to capture the little moments in our everyday lives." Growing up in the Appalachian hills of Southern Ohio, Apple was awarded a scholarship to the Columbus College of Art and Design, the first step into her life-long journey as a professional artist. Always seeking new ideas and experiences led Apple to France, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Mexico, Canada and the U.S.A. southwest.
